Hi, I'm Cara, a Dublin family photographer. This little corner of my site is for letting you know any new things in store at Cara Hodge photography every year.

2024 was busy! I did a lot of "re--branding" which was more like taking a good look at the photography style which was naturally evolving for my families.

My personal pictures have almost always been in black & white, but I really worked hard to give my families beautiful vintage inspired colour photos in their galleries. Families seem to love this softer, warmer and subtle colour palette.

As well as continuing to do my Fly On The Wall: Dublin Documentary Family Photography sessions, I have also embraced my first love: traditional family and child portraits, honouring the emotive and timeless quality of gesture and expression with a brand new page. My mini sessions tend to be a blend of semi staged portraits and natural interactions.

Also, 2024 saw a lot of outdoor shoots around Dublin with small kids and babies. My mini family sessions in Blackrock parks and gardens and Seapoint Beach, continue to be very popular. Outdoor sessions make the most of seasonal colour (think cherry blossom and autumn leaves). The beach sessions are also popular through the year, from The 40 Foot and Sandycove to Dalkey and Howth, I find no two sessions are the same. The light is always different!

I have also created a Maternity page and doing more romantic couples shoots around Dublin, including my first wedding at the National Gallery of Ireland which helped create my Dublin Small Weddings page.
Take a look for some gorgeous small wedding inspiration, I'm open to celebrate love, including unusual requests and adventures, surprise proposals and elopements! Hoping 2025 will include even more romance!

I also have tweaked my family sessions, offering four main session packages as well as the year round mini session. There is no need to pick and choose favourite pictures from the session - all my galleries come with a complete narrative of best moments!

In 2024, I also picked up Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention in the People Category of 1839 Photography Awards in both their Colour awards and Photographer Of The Year awards cycle, and two This Is Reportage: Family awards.

Above all, I've enjoyed every minute of meeting and photographing gorgeous Dublin families!
